The USA worries about outsourcing to India, China etc. Of course Taiwan will outsource everything. They could even get their defence done much cheaper by outsourcing it to China rather than hiring high-paid Taiwanese soldiers. They could hire millions of Chinese to be soldiers. Heck, they could do the defence from actually inside China, which is where they need to be when the defence is needed as the defence isn't needed against New Zealand, Japan or the USA.

Now that's a great idea.

They could get the uniforms Made in China, housing provided in China, etc.

But of course outsourcing is going to China and the two will be closely integrated economically. Japan outsources to China too. Aki-san was running a factory in China for a while, but it was too problematic in various ways and the cost savings didn't justify it, so they moved it back to Japan.

There will be an economic balance between Taiwan once the capital has spread more evenly and salaries have evened up, but until then, there will be a flood of businesses and capital to China to hire lots of people and produce lots of things for Taiwanese companies.
