You need some lessons on geopolitics. China doesn't want to give no province (mainland) the idea that they can go Slovenia, thus there's absolutely no way the island -relic of the Cold War- can escape and give other provinces any ideas.

It is just the government clique that needs a separate Taiwan, the rest it doesn't matter.
