The so-called Surge (read escalation) is no real answer to anything. All it does it keep us in Iraq in limbo. True, some progress has been made by giving large bribes to the local Sunnis to reject Al Qaida foreigners, but The Surge is completely unsustainable as we are out of troops and Guard units, and we're wasting more money now over there now than ever before which is all a complete waste. The only excuse for The Surge is that Bush put us in such a terrible damned if do, damned if we don't position that treading water is the politically safe thing to do. But what we really need to do is GET OUT and let the Iraqis sort it out for themselves. Vietnam did okay after we left after all. In fact the first thing they did was declare war on China. Since then they've been a peaceful nation and haven't caused any trouble at all. Maybe Iraq will do the same. Maybe OUR OCCUPATION was the main problem, in Iraq just like it was in Vietnam. Get it? Oh yeah, and this Iraq quagmire you love so much, it's in the process of destroying the GOP and putting Democrats in charge for the next 16 years. So why the hell do you jerks keep supporting it? It's suicidal for your party. What, you think McCain or Romney can win by talking up The Surge? BS! NOBODY CARES! The vast majority of Americans just want a fast way out.
