I think I am saying things in a way that is not obvious.

I'm just saying that convection would be important if we didn't already have a barrier to it in our atmosphere.

It seemed to be that there was an argument brewing (not yours) that greenhouse gasses did not stop convection and therefore they were not relevant to heating. I was just pointing out that convection was already stopped for reasons that had nothing to do with greenhouse gasses.
