The "story" is banks use a lot of computers and they will cut capital spending to preserve capital (and let the smarter banks take their market share). I think the shorts feed these stories to the news folks like Cramer so they can get a few more bucks before covering.

The "truth" from Intel at CES is their business is booming overseas and the impact from the banking sector troubles are not that big a deal....

I think I heard Cramer say on TV he was reluctant to recommend HPQ NOW, which he has in his charitable trust, because it keeps going down despite being a great value... I think that is as close to a "ding" we'll get and he'll be bank on the HPQ bandwagon when it is back in the $50's...
