Edwards is my safe first choice, Obama my second riskier choice. But the GOP is so screwed up now perhaps any democrat can win big.

All I want is for it to be a landslide, and for swing voters not even to be tempted to vote Republican. If Obama can continue proving he can accomplish and get centrist white voters behind him (despite the likely racist smear campaign by the GOP) as well as minorities and progressives, then I'm cool with him, but if you look at the history of political races, you will realize that a lot can change in the next few months.

There is also the off-chance of something surprising or tragic to happen. Gary Hart and Bobby Kennedy are two examples who come to mind. There are also the initial leaders who collapsed like Dean, Tsongas, Teddy Kennedy, Muskie, Eugene McCarthy, McCain, etc., plus Macaca moments like George Allen's. What if Obama were caught on video saying something disturbing?

So even though Obama looks like a sure thing now, it's still fairly early and I want to be prudent. I also want Edwards to keep running and doing well, especially if Hillary drops out, so we have a good solid backup for Obama if he stumbles or can't win for whatever reason.
