Just watched "Waitress," Jeff, and your sentiment is right on: "it is what it is, but I thought it was kind of cute." A bit over the top at times, but also endearing in many ways. What is especially poignant is that the author/director, Adrienne Shelly, who also stars as the younger waitress, was killed at age 40 soon after the film was made... and it is her own young daughter who appears in the final scene. All in all my wife & I enjoyed the movie. netflix.com
