Shanghai begins their gold commodities trading tomorrow, giving Asia more ready access to the gold market.

Cheers,

some speculation that the Shanghai gold futures (open tomorrow for trading) is the reason for the pop in POG. I think bulls are almost all "looking" for an excuse to buy more. Wall of worry?

I would hate to be short Gold going into tomorrow. I doubt volumes will be material in Shanghai, but if prices are bid up significantly, then we will see follow thru in London, Zurich and NY. Anyone with capital in emerging markets ought to have some gold in case of currency meltdown or other events. This market could become significant. Chinese government is trying to rein in the stock and property markets. Where else to speculate (other than Macau)?

Interesting times for sure.
