just in in e-mail in-tray from our pen pal ... spec net longs in gold futures are very large as well, and if other commodities suffer a break, some gold selling in sympathy will likely occur. however, gold just moved into new all time high territory, and this is significant. if you look back in history, every time an item moves to new all time highs, besting record highs that were made a long time ago, a very large move ensues. Russell mentioned the comments WD Gann made in connection with this, which goes to show that this phenomenon has been well known for a long time. per my own experience, often when in a commodity new ATH territory is first reached you do get a pullback initially, revisiting the old range briefly before the real move begins.
