On a related topic, I've read that large amounts of old gold jewelry are coming out of the woodwork and being traded in for cash. Conversely, gold jewelry sales are declining. When gold hits $2000, I suppose most of the world's jewelry will end up in the vaults of the StreetTRACKS Gold Fund (GLD).
