Anyone who followed the Yankees during the Rice era feared Rice. At least his bat. We used to have arguments in school over who was better, Rice vs. Mattingly. I thought Mattingly's glove gave him the edge head-head, but Rice had the longer more productive career, and that's important for the Hall of Fame. But I do recall that Rice was not too media friendly so that may have hurt him. - Jeff
