It's going to be a "V" shaped recession. 5-7 months in the tank and then pulling up in the latter part of the year.

...as they should be. But IMO it's a lose-lose proposition for them. Messing with this economy in some fashion that will really make a difference(helicopter Ben?) would be so obvious and ultimately destructive that they would think twice.

Oh, wait. We're talking about Republicans.

The last time we had a recession ahead of a presidential election, Clinton, with help from Perot, ousted Bush the elder.
All the more reason for the entrenched powers that be to bust their butts to try and avoid one before November.
