totally agree actually, Carter actually had some outstanding successes with ME peace talks and that... as far as I know nobody ever really thought Carter was in line as the worst president EVER... I think the fact that Bush inherited a phenomenal economy and surplus situation on the fiscal side, as well as peace and managed to blow it so incredibly puts him on a new level of idiocy vs almost any other president.

And as for 911 while a tragic event there was nothing "game changing" about it from a historical perspective. We had terrorism on US soil with OKC, another tragic event. The question is how to react to something like that. There is terrorism all over the world, sadly.
