If they are electric, which is fine by me and is in line with what we see in cities where electric motor bikes are already the norm (and gas motorbikes are banned) -- it begs the question of how the electricity will be generated.

Solar clearly isn't cheaper than coal at present. I know FSLR is touting that they'll reach grid parity in 2010 or so, but that's in the future....

Hydro is fine but obviously limited in scope. Ditto wind.

Of course if you wanna consider environmental effects, it's more debateable.

these are going to be electric within 5 years and gas prices will be much lower then

for a car of this size a gasoline engine is not necessary and likely exists for cost reasons.

Ho, hum... Do you have any idea of what's going on with India's electrical grid? Blackouts and brownouts every single day. Plug in a million electric Nanoo Nanoo's (or Tata's or whatever they're called) and their whole system will go gablooie.

BTW, these things make the old Yugo look like a Rolls. And a 600 cc engine is about the size of your lawnmower. And gas prices will most certainly not be much lower in 5 years. Read up on peak (cheap) oil. And study what idiot politicians are doing and planning to make matters worse...
