i worked for mccarthy in wisconsin and rfk in indiana a couple of weeks later. McCarthy was the college professor type and was a bit like fred thompson in the way he went at things. RFK was inspirational like obama. Sure its upside down because rfk was hillary in the sense that they were the next in line from prominent families. But make no mistake, RFK got it and the war was only one small part of it. In NY i remember the effort he made in BedSty and when campaigning his emotional trip to poverty stricken parts of the south. No running water, kids who looked like they were living in africa in poverty not america. I think if elected even as a leftist he would have found a different difrection for america that would have worked. He also had working class folks who were nominally pro-war and anti-civil rights back them in his coalition. I'm allowing myself to rant a bit today. Sorry.
