It is very hard for books to give the full picture of those years.

I suggest that you read from all viewpoints; you may be able to get a picture of what those years were like.

I am just now beginning to make sense of the 200 years beginning with the Napoleonic Wars by virtue of finding it necessary to study history to trace the movements of our immigrant ancestors.

Yes, we or our ancestors were all immigrants at one point in time.

Have you stopped to think that you and Obama were both born in "1961" but in different parts of the world? I notice these small conincidences.

I just finished watching a Moyers interview with Shelby Steele this evening. If this interview is available as a repeat or on line, I recommend it.

Steele had a white mother and a black father as did Obama. Steele is from Chicago and is about 60 years old born in the late 1940's. He is sucessful in his own right.

Steele brings out the deeper questions that people, such as myself, are seeking that were not answered in the books Obama wrote about himself or by the soundbites of the campaign.

I want to know more about his deepest personal philosophy, not his public personna. I want to know how that inner Obama translates to what he envisions for the USA and how it would affect his governing.
