I really think most green energy advocates are SICK of hearing about government "mandating" green energy. Personally I am against government mandates if you want to know the truth, UNLESS it has to do with consumer choice, which is what the CA cafe standards are. Consumers want it, they should get it I am not in favor of government mandates for renewables at utilities, and I don't think they are necessary anyway since solar is cheaper now. Retailers like Kohls are installing solar for one reason- TO SAVE MONEY.

But in regards to mandates/subsidies: We are spending 12 billion PER MONTH in Iraq. We effectively doubled the national debt in Dumbya's tenure so that we could push tax cuts for 6K lb gas guzzlers on small businesses so that the fossil fuels crowd could get rich. And what about those fossil fuels tax cuts? As far as I know consumers didn't lobby for any of this crap. Its just the fossil fuels special interests jamming it down our throats.

Can you find a poll that has this much of the public supporting the FOSSIL FUEL status quo?

According to a January 2007 poll conducted for the group Environmental Defense, 81 percent of South Carolina's Republican voters believe the United States should reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

96% Support Investing in Renewable Energy; Voters by 2:1 Margin Willing to Pay Fee for State’s Energy Investment

HARRISBURG (June 18) -- A poll of Pennsylvania’s registered voters released today by Citizens for Pennsylvania's Future (PennFuture) shows a virtual consensus throughout the state in favor of the Energy Independence Strategy (EIS), currently before the Pennsylvania General Assembly. This stunning support, unprecedented in scope and size, was expressed by both Republicans and Democrats; by conservatives, liberals and moderates; by women and men; and by Pennsylvanians from every part of the state.

Nine out of 10 Washington voters support increased use of renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency, according to a new poll.

"Support for these proposals is both wide and deep," said Ernest Paicopolos, principal of Opinion Dynamic Corp. of Cambridge, Mass., during a news conference Wednesday morning. The company conducted a random sample of 600 registered voters in September. The poll has a margin of error of 4 percent.
