Anything the gov't gets involved in will always cost more due to bureaucracy and waste.

Jake, my Medicare premium is a lot cheaper than any private policy. Seniors know that.

Did you consider that you are not the only one paying in? Many young people will pay in more than they use. Those who die before they retire pay a lot for nothing. Though some group insurance plans are done in a similar fashion, many are not.
