From what I can see the standard operating procedure at the moment seems to be to deny any recession as long as possible and then when it has to be admitted to rig the numbers so that it appears to have happened in the near past and is now over. This is what they did with the last recession.

It may not be a bad idea since consumer sentiment and consumer spending are two of the largest variables when it comes to the economy.

To be honest I don't know if it makes a difference which party is in charge when it comes to ADMITTING that a recession is taking place. When it comes to policies that create a recession I do think it makes a difference which party is in charge.

By the accepted definition of a recession....it would not be "straight talk" to claim that at this point...
