I saw most of "The War" and watched some of it with my kids. The personal touches of the specific lives of soldiers and their towns and families made it more impactful than a chronological documentary about the war.

My oldest son came home the other day with a huge multi-disc documentary on the Beatles. It's something like 10 hours long. I was tickled to death that he has that much interest in something fairly removed from his generation.
