I don't support Edwards. I've told you many times I've quit voting because it's all a deception. Edwards had one idea I liked and I said something about it. then I apologize. For some reason I thought you were pulling for Edwards. BTW, there is a difference in what the government forces you to do, vs the Holy Spirit moving to compel one to love his neighbor as he does himself. And I agree with you that there is social status and cliques within every congregation, but as I heard it said that when asked why there are so many hypocrites in "church" the answer was. "Where else should they be?" America is passing away. There will be no America or stock market in the kingdom of heaven. I sure hope there is no "stock market" in heaven LOL, but as far as America, for whatever reason we have been richly blessed for many years, and yes it is passing away due to greed, immorality, ec, but we cannot deny it's existence, nor do I shirk my responsibility to make every effort to protect my family by voting on the person I believe that can do the best job of protecting us. I will grant you one thing though. The political process is as corrupt as it can be. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said: "If your vote really counted, they would figure out a way to make voting illegal."

I am a fan of Irenaeus. I read his Against Heresies a couple of years ago. The first couple of books were really hard. I had to find a legend on the internet to track the system of the Gnostic gods he was refuting. The last couple of books were great insights to the kingdom and Antichrist, end times, etc. His hermeneutical method was fascinating and enlightening, Midrashic it seems to me. For example, how he compares Mary to Eve in that they were both virgins when they did their respective acts. Eve sinned as a virgin, Mary obeyed as a virgin. Or how he displays that Adam was taken from virginal soil, that is, before any seed was sown in the ground as Gen 2:5,6 says; and comparing that again to Jesus' mother who also had no seed put in her by man so that Jesus could also be born from "virginal soil," so as to recapitulate Adam and his race by a similarity of origins. I recommend Christians familiarize themselves with the ancient writers such as Irenaeus or Justin Martyr to see how the faith sounded in their mouths, who were so fresh from the apostolic age. We'll be humbled by their practically encyclopedic knowledge of Scripture and how they were able to both present the faith for the edification of the believers as well as how they refuted the philosophies of their day.
