Willie Horton was indeed a violent criminal. Releasing him clearly (in hindsight at least) was a mistake. If there is any argument that there was something wrong with the adds about him it would seem to be the argument that electing Dukakis as president wouldn't increase the likelihood of more Willie Horton type releases, and that the adds somehow implied that there would be more violent criminals let on the street if Dukakis was really released.....>>>

That sounds like using "Willie Horton" as a code word for socialism will lead to releasing violent criminals on the street...etc......
