Bothers me he'd be attracted to a crappy message like that.

I assume there are two factors:

Its probably a big church and gives Obama a built-in political base. Course your standard Baptist, AME church could do that.

Then the minister of the church, being afro-centric, likely loves the idea of someone in his congregation who has a real African name and real African father - and thus he is given a lot of positive attention.
