I thought we need to get them in Iraq so they don't come get us here? Makes me feel so much safer now that the surge is working so a terrorist can't cross the Mexican border and go into downtown San Antonio and blow up a whole block by the Riverwalk or a homegrown terrorist pissed at the US policies in the Middle East blow up a skyscraper in Chicago. I still see so little security except airports, ports and courthouses it is astounding what someone could do here if they really wanted to..

The airport humiliations have nothing to do with security. If they ever did catch anything, it would be co-incidental. Those check points are a way for the government to maintain the citizenry in a state of terror. They are able to put a fascist process in place to destroy some of the freedoms of millions of Americans daily, with impunity, in the name of "security". That is a way of conditioning the populace to police state methods. A necessary pre-condition to their continued rolling back of our Constitutional guarantees.
