I think you may be confusing the percentages on the futures with what is reputed to be the percentages on equity & index options.

Just a guess. Personally I've been long Gold & Silver Futures, although not 100% of the time, since Gold was in the 360 range & Silver around 9 dollars.

I've also been long Gold stocks, & the magnitude of profit in Futures far outstrips stock gains. But that's just personal experience.

Once a commodity starts to trend the change in equity on the futures market is quite rapid.
