They too would lead the country in a positive direction with plenty of change, but Kerry just happens to prefer Obama. I agree with Kerry. If Edwards loses big in the next week I too will favor Obama over Hillary, but that does not mean I will be against Hillary, and I will not smear her like the Rovians to do help the GOP cause. Because like it or not, even if Obama continues running strong, he may lose in a close battle with Hillary. In the end it is about delegates, and she is ahead in that column as well as the national polls. Also, it's important to look at bwhat the final tickets would be. In Hillary's case, probably Wes Clark to basically hang some military gonads on her. And in Obama's, probably Edwards a white southerner who can reassure the closet racists. And there are many-many closet racists, even on the left. Blacks can be reverse racists too. Racism both overt and deep in the subconscious is real and highly volotile, and the Rovians will do everything they can to stoke it alive and pour gasoline on it. I have figured out how the GOP would go after Obama, and it's in that smear email of theirs. It's the fact that Obama's church is "all" black and the minister has parlayed with Farrakhan. There you have it. That and Obama's name and Muslim grandfather and stepfather. That will be their entire campaign. And that is what Clinton means when he calls Obama "risky" and claims Hillary has already been vetted. In a sense he's right. Kerry promises to fight for Obama against smearvetting, but none of of us know if it will work. And if McCain is the GOP nominee, then isn't he an acceptable "safe" choice for swingvoters? God help us if that's the way it turns out, though McCain is nowhere near as bad as Bush.
