I totally agree - sometimes I wonder why Microsoft cannot do anything against all that crapware... but I guess that would put them into antitrust trouble.

Anyway, I look forward to see specs on Vista's successor:

If they do things right, we may see some of these (my list):
- No 32-bit version for desktop PCs and servers (in order to avoid being stuck on < 3GB PC designs)
- It's smaller than Vista, in order to obtain speed, and in order to make it more suitable for flash RAM installation and small laptops
- Instant on/off functionality for portable devices using flash and special settings
- Improved uptime (fewer serious bugs that make the PC unusable until a technician comes by)
- Embeddable for mobile devices
- A new concept of plug&play apps. This may involve full or partial virtualization, and might be limited to .net apps
- Proper emulation for Windows XP apps, maybe via virtualization

GUI changes:
- Inserted media will show in a way that users understand (USB flash, CDs)
- Much easier wifi configuration, probably copying the Ubuntu Linux design
