Yeah I kind of figured. From traveling the country extensively in recent years our neck of the woods is as ground zero as they come in being fragmented and eaten up alive by our government policies on both sides.. In that respect I wish Reagan was running but it is way too late for both Ronnie and SoFla. We can only turn the clock back 20 years and remember what was and what could have been..

<< do believe that the USA is being fragmented and eaten up from the inside out more than by some overseas threat.>>

I agree with you on that. Don't quite know the real reason or solution, but some of it has to do with the quality of attitude, work ethic, respect for either the customer or the boss/supervisor, and just plain old competence/training/IQ level.

We ARE being eaten up by our own kind.

Right here at home, I've had a check still sitting on my desk, written to pay a contractor $6,300 to do a job that was done several months ago, but NOT done to the extent that it actually solved the main problem I wanted to correct in the first place. Contractor gave all sorts of assurances the problem would be solved when I hired him, gave me specs on how it would be done and showed up with major machinery and staff to do the work.

When job was done, problem was actually worse than before. Contractor sent a bill, and did not return my phone calls about the remaining deficiency in the job.

Contractor since then has variously sent out overdue payment notices, come back to my property and specified what would be done to correct the uncorrected problem, has not come back yet to correct the problem, and is still sending overdue payment notices.

I expect to see this guy in court some day, but it would be helpful if he would at least return my phone calls, which are always made AFTER his company sends the now-repetitive, overdue-payment notice.

This contractor was highly recommended by another prime contractor as being a good company to work with.

Not, so far, in my case. Bad communication, bad work ethic, bad management of his own company, lack of coordination between billing department and owner, downright stupid way to run a business. Not good for the U.S. economy or consumers.

Had a not-too-pleasant run-in this week with a dishwasher installer, who huffily agreed to honor my wish to correct the problem of having the dishwasher installed crookedly in the space where it was to supposed to fit. He refused to acknowledge the space disparity but agreed when I got fed up and said "just do it" and got it installed properly.

Getting tired of telling people to Just DO It. Nice to no longer be involved in fighting these types of battles for my clients, who were trying to sell or buy houses. Got enough problems just managing my own property against a declining level of service/competence.
