Having lived through that period I have to say HRC is correct in saying that without LBJ's help the legislation would not have passed. You have to remember after MLK's death there was warfare int he streets. You needed both parties plus the events of the time to get the legislation passed.

HIllary is smart enough is recognize that Obama, and not she, is better suited to do what Lyndon Johnson did as President. I tried hard to put myself in her shoes and try to comprehend what she meant.

No matter which way you slice and dice what she said, it always boils down to giving LBJ and not MLK the credit. It is a glass half full/half empty situation. Is it MLK's credit or LBJ's credit. She chose LBJ as her answer.
