I love Johnson's absurd and cowardly claim that his sneering comment about what Obama was doing "in the neighbourhood" was in fact a respectful reference to his work as a community organiser.

I have always been amazed at how utterly hypocritical politicians can be when all they really seek is raw power. Now we have the spectacle of the Clintons, who rode to power on a wave of black support and an insistence that Bill's own drug record - which he lied about - should not disqualify him for president, lining up their friends to defend highly dubious remarks about Martin Luther King and make nudge-nudge remarks about Obama's (openly admitted) drug use.

It'll doubtless work, of course. It always does. It is very reminiscent of what the Bush campaign did to John McCain in 2000. And just as eight years ago, I don't think the country or the world will be any better off for it...>>
