The Clintons can make nice with the left later if they get nominated. The fact is, unless the Clintons take on Obama in a very tough manner now he could be a runaway train. So they have to do what they are doing. Very tricky and shrewd, but also very risky.

Also, look at the bright side. This is Obama's vetting. This talk of cocaine and race and being an idealistic upstart. If he can't beat this back against the Clintons he has no chance against the rightwing, who will spend 100 million+ waging the biggest smear and fear campaign ever in US politics.

Whatever you want to say about Hillary, she is vetted. Whitewater was the ultimate vetting process.

Edwards remains the most electable of the three.

BTW, I know for a fact many top black leaders prefer the Clintons to Obama. It's the voters the Clintons are worried about.
