For near term trading what you are saying makes sense. It seems the small/mid caps have been getting killed and will continue to get killed near term. However, at some point it will be a great time to go long the small/mid caps. As it stands right now there are some attractive values in some segments and I'm going to establish positions, some of which are a bit risky but which are long term positions. After further review a few of the companies I am long or that I am targeting are a bit crappy (but cheap) but most are quality or have some sort of advantage in their field, have adequate margins, and are very likely to survive.

I'm 10% invested now and will shoot for getting 30% invested within about 6 months, maybe 100% within 2 years.
