chancels...

thank you for your eloquent post....

particularly:

I wonder if Sen. Obama, as he makes his climb, understands the kind of quiet cheering he is beginning to garner from some Republicans, and from those not affiliated with either party. They see him as a Democrat who could cure the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton sickness.

I call it that because it seems to me now less like a dynastic tug of war than a symptom of deterioration, a lazy, unserious and faintly corrupt turn to be taken by the oldest and greatest democracy in the history of man. And I say sickness because on some level I think it is driven by a delusion: "We will be safe with these ruling families, whom we know so well." But we won't. They have no special magic. Dynasticism brings with it a sense of deterioration. It is dispiriting.

i do not know what it is about human beings that feel they absolutely *must* cling to past incarnations of political power over and over...

einstein called it *insanity* doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result...it is obvious that most of the polls are saying loud and clear, americans want CHANGE...

despite the fact that i disagree with obama's policies (as thus far articulated), the ONE THING that i can look to him for is a total and complete BREAK from the past....he may fail miserably, but even if so, at least we can look at his candidacy and say, 'we went for the new thing, the different type of leader and he INSPIRED us'

this country is better than just returning to power 'the devil we know'

we really need to repudiate the very idea of political familial *dynasty*...it is sooooo counter to the american ideal of equal opportunity for all....

i'm a registered independent, and i will say to registered democrats...

you have a CHANCE, an OPPORTUNITY to break the mafioso like stranglehold on your party leadership from the politics of 'inevitability' and say to the broader electorate, 'we are the true *progressives* and we offer you the independents, republicans, libertarians, et al...the chance to vote for a new, *clean slate* candidate who can appeal to all americans, someone who has a real chance to unite this country...

democrats really to have this opportunity, and yet ...it appears that the bush/clinton/bush/clinton meme continues with its near stranglehold...

even though, as i said, even if i disagree with obama's policies articulated thus far, i would far rather see a person of idealism, even if misguided(IMO) win, rather than a throwback to the worst kind of divisive 'leader' this country could possibly engender....HRC

she is the worst possible candidate, totally unfitting to the potential for change that this country seems to want

desperately

i do not want to be dispirited...

i want to be able to cheer an obama candidacy, despite our differing views...

he represents the best and brightest, though his solutions may fall short...

it is TIME to break the stranglehold of entrenched political power in this country and try something NEW....and deal with the consequences, favorable or not

That joke came straight from a british comedy series of the 80s called Spitting Image. I remember it well.
