I am beginning to think the recession will be long and deep, in tune with the bear market we will see.

A lot of my 'thinking' is based on intuition, on the observation that nothing but nothing which has been done to prop up markets and the economy since August has worked worth a tinker's damn. Not Bush's stimulus, not the scrapped super-SIV, not the subprime proposal, not the rate cuts, not the ECB injection...nothing.

What's left? What if the next defibrillator shock to the comatose body establishes that it is in fact a cadaver?

I have not seen markets fail to respond to so much stimulus as this one has.
