Falling earnings can do it. So can a plenty of other things. ---------------------------------------------------------- didn't say 4Q.....I said December.....the XMAS holiday shopping period. Of course the last week of November is part of the Christmas shopping period ... as the article you posted earlier noted. This years post Thanksgiving period was longer than usual. So the decline in December was partially a correction from that. Anyway, the quarter is what is significant for recession and I think your underlying thesis is we're in or near a recession. Maybe, maybe not.
