>>The Baltic Dry Index says it all because it speaks the inexorable timeless truth for everyone<<

Howard Simons pays homage to the Baltic Dry Index... ;>)

It's not a habit of mine diurnal
To read Page 1 of The Wall Street Journal
I read Section C on the morning train
Sometimes with pleasure, sometimes with pain

So can you imagine my surprise
Or the look of glee in my eyes
When I was told by my favorite spy
That they ran a story on the Baltic Dry!

Index, that is. Of freight across the ocean
With wind and propeller and rocking motion
It has something to do, you see
With actual demand in the economy

It's rather wry and even funny
But not news, not at RealMoney
Where I've called the tune at least three times
And some readers may have gained some dimes

Now it's not as important as Fannie Mae
As Eavis had told us on another day
But it's my shtick, and once I read it
I thought they owed me a little credit

What can I do, but let this pass?
Just wait, WSJ, 'till I write on glass!

Wonder if 150B stimulus will slow the downward march of Baltic Dry Index
