Profiteering IS unseemly. Profit isn't. Another failure to differentiate. Both by the profiteers and the critics. <g>

Addendum.

After my Dad's home hospice care, my aunts were anxious to donate to the provider. I explained to them that the provider made plenty of money on the case. Each time they provided us with something, they got a cut. They pushed everything that Medicare would pay for. My aunts didn't understand that. Still don't, I think. They thought the provider was giving us cases of bed sore creme and baby wipes out of generosity. I suggested if they wanted to repay the kindness of the nurses, which was exceptional, they should give those individuals gifts rather than donate to the organization. I think they made a donation. And did so in my name, too.

Anyway, my point was that they couldn't get their heads around the idea that the provider was being compensated for being so kind and helpful to us.
