Gold isn't an inflation haven. It's a haven from a debasing currency, and a traditional place to go, turn out the lights, pull the covers over your head, go fetal and wait for the storm to pass.

I think gold used to operate that way but I think that's changed in recent years. It acts more like a commodity. When stocks fell off in 2000-2001 so did gold. And as the price of commodities has increased over the past 5 years, so has gold.
