Doctors and other high wage earners were investing is some of the stupidest things because the deductions were so helpful and the slim change of a grand slam investment return seemed reasonable compared to the cost of taxes avoided. High taxes caused many distortions to the economy that resulted in inefficient investment. Bring them back and the same thing will happen.
