It's simp[e. GOOG makes money the old fashioned way by selling stock. Then guys make bets on it.

I really like GOOG, not as a stock to own, but as a company that makes a lot of cool stuff that is actually useful. Their business plan seems to be to let their techies make whatever they think is cool, THEN see if they can make money off it. It's sort of like the old Bell Labs for the internet.
