I hope they at least teach them how to open, run and balance a check book. Bill, I can almost guarantee that they don't. If it's practical most likely it's been cut, like wood/metal shop, home ec (that's where more than likely they'd learn of balancing check books). To give an example, there was a young kid stationed with me in Okinawa that got into financial trouble and almost got thrown in the brig for bouncing checks. Turns out he was writing checks for things like pizzas almost every night with 0 in his checking account. After I took over his finances it took almost a year for him to clear his record.....
