Zeus,

If you spent as much time searching for articles about pedophile cases and sex cases with post post pubescent young adults among rabbis, ministers, clerics, monks, school teachers, day care workers, boy scout leaders, baby sitters, doctors, step parents etc... then took a basic statistics class you might have some credibility on this issue. Since you don't do the former and have no understanding of the latter.......you continue to define yourself quite clearly as an anti Catholic bigot and hate monger unworthy of discussion.

I have a problem with this type of article. I think it is nothing short of scandalous to bring someones name up as the chief suspect in a murder when its been 4 decades and that person has never been charged. Not only is there not a shred of evidence presented in the article , it even admits that whatever the police had was only circumstantial to begin with. Im far from being a roman catholic or defending priests but this to me goes against the freedoms that this country stands for as well as our legal system. This is why we have a court system so people dont get tried in the press. except this isnt a trial its innuendo. If the purpose of the article is to get the case reopened there was no reason to mention the priest by name.

I had missed this - up until now.
Now with a pit in my stomach - it is clear that ignorance was better than knowledge.

How did this stuff happen? How did our parents and grandparents not realize these were just men?

Just reconfirms our decision not to go along with my parents' wishes and do the Catholic window dressing ( just the sacraments) with our 2 sons. And makes me believe that net/net - religion has been more of a bane than a benefit for mankind.

Because - as Stevie said - if you believe in something that you don't understand - then you suffer.......
