"cost efficient " [ETFs]

Especially since Banc of America Securities is giving me commission-free trading (for stocks). Sure beats paying the commissions on options. And you can use margin, if necessary.

john,

Thanks for the symbol for the FXP, It's really so helpful to have such a vast array of ETF's that can be utiiized in getting long and short myriad Indicies and asset classes in a cost efficient and transparent fashion.

Cost efficient? Transparent? I can see how the 2x leverage might be cost efficient, but for transparency why not just short FXI? What's the potential slippage on FXP? (They've only been around for less than 3 months.) What's their strategy for getting -2X the return on FXI? I'd call that anything but transparent.

Just for laughs, here's the fund summary from Yahoo (http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=FXP)

"The investment seeks daisy investment results, before fees and expense that correspond to twice (200%) the inverse of the daily performance of the FTSE/Xinhua China 25 index. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets to investment that, in combination, have economic characteristics that are inverse to those if index. It may employ leveraged investment techniques in seeking its investment objective."

I think I'll stick with shorting FXI.
