Another problem is the county and local governments in FL. They just take the money and spend it. Their budgets are based on what they take. They are not transparent.

In other states they have to submit a budget and then adjust millage to that.

As for selling your house. It's all about what your willing to take. Buyers now know they can wait you out.

Eventually, as housing prices fall, taxes SHOULD go down. But fat local governments will scream because they have already spent your windfall. They will scream they have to raise millage to counter budget shortfalls under the guise of not reducing services (fire and police protection). If you knew about all the fat (in the form or new employees, pensions, pay packages etc.) they have accumulated you'd be screamin' mad.

So get ready and don't be duped.
