LIAR. The exposure of atrocities in Vietnam in 1971 by brave vets willing to speak out about the horrors they'd seen were not only real and 99% truthful (I think they found one stories out of hundreds which was in error) but long overdue. Also, by 1971 the war was a complete bloody lost cause. There was no point in continuing it whatsoever and the vast majority of Americans wanted us out. In fact, now we know that by 1967 the White House and Pentagon knew the war was unwinnable. Thgere is nothing to apologize for. Telling the truth is not an "insult", it's what sets us free and makes us a better country than dictatorships.
