Mel Brooks is one of the few people who can get away with making fun of both Hitler (Producers) and dropping the "N" word (Blazing Saddles). Most non black comedians wouldn't dare say the "N" word nor would non Jewish people make comparisons to Hitler, no matter how innocent (just ask Will Smith). Heck, we live in a society today where even giving someone who isn't part of your family a hug can be taken the wrong way.
