Agreed Kate. Cost is the major problem, be it private insurance or public insurance. Medicare is going to skyrocket in the near future... we could afford it if we had the COGS that the European countries have... but we simply can't afford it with the current system.

So there needs to be a solution. Those that approach this from ideology rather than pragmatism will stand in the way of the best solution. You have found a lot of that here.

There are a lot of good, inexpensive systems that deliver exceptional results (possibly better than ours in aggregate) and are much cheaper than our system. We should be in the enviable position to pick and choose the best elements of each.
