I think he's sort of doing the right thing. Bernanke is worried about inflation, and he doesn't want to appear to be in a panic, so, he's waiting until the meeting to lower the rate 1/4 point.

If he reduces by only a 1/4, they will be calling for his head. M. Antoinette's execution will look like a stroll in the park by comparison.
