WM went up 7.6% since I bought it this morning. That's not to say it might not still go bankrupt. It just looked really cheap at 12, having been 45 not too long ago. WM is well regarded among the less well off, has thousands of branches and won't die in my estimation. Analysts are split between "sell" and "hold" - I went with "buy".

I don't think it will go bankrupt. And my reaction is not due to what the analysts are saying. Since its a hometown bank, I have been following it pretty closely and the word is WM doesn't really know the extent of their subprime problem. Of course, that's not unique to WM.....most of the banks that bought into the garbage did little to no DD and the bad stuff was intermixed with good stuff. Consequently, no one knows for sure if the banks including WAMU have bottomed yet.

As for me, I've picked up some TMA after playing CFC for a bounce. And CFC is an example of what I mean....BAC is supposed to buy out CFC but now CFC has found some more trouble spots and the word is BAC may be backing away from the deal. Clearly, things are very unsettled still.

Having said that, I think we are in a stituation where there are some good buys to be had.
