One is that they would disallow supplemental policies and all, not just some, of us are underinsured. The other is that they do allow supplemental policies and we still have all those insurance companies with their associated overhead and you've lost the benefit you've assumed.

The way I envision gold plated supplemental policies that they would allow things like private rooms in hospitals, flying off to the Cleveland Clinic if you get cancer (instead of going to a local provider), stuff like that. Much like Aflac does right now, only deeper.

You seem to think the basic "tier" would be very spartan... I don't see why it would be much different than your current average health insurance policy.

"tiered offerings from the single payer."

They already do. Every insurer I have encountered offers several options with different copays, deductibles and pharmaceutical benefits. Prices vary according to the plan selected.

You are barking up the wrong tree, proponents of Socialized Medicine seem unified in objecting to the idea that some people could receive better quality care than others.

It is obvious to all that the solution to the mess is to offer tiers of medical coverage. In order to stir up the masses the Socialized Medicine crowd rail against the injustice of it all and do corner themselves away from the solution. This is a necessary compromise to gain the power they need to destroy the American Medical Miracle.
